Life has a way of throwing curveballs when we least expect it. Whether it's a personal crisis or a sudden change in circumstances, challenging times are an inevitable part of the human experience. As much as we would like to avoid challenges and hurdles in this life, we cannot. Challenges are a part of living a life with purpose and during these moments, one of the most potent tools we have at our disposal is the power of agreement. As simple as it may sound, it can sometimes be a very hard thing to do. However, this simple yet profound concept can help us navigate through difficulties, find our inner strength and ultimately emerge stronger on the other side.

What is the Power of Agreement?
The power of agreement is the conscious choice and sacred commitment that we make to trust. I will be completely honest with you when I say that the process involved in getting to the point of agreement can be extremely exhausting and difficult. It is most times a difficult process because it usually happens when we are at our lowest and feel absolutely broken. This is usually the point in our lives when agreement becomes less difficult because it then becomes the only thing that we can do. Learning to agree with the “process” becomes particularly important during challenging times when uncertainty and adversity can threaten our very well-being and sanity.
Let's explore how the power of agreement can make a significant difference during such trying periods.
1. Increased Strength
When we face adversity, our instinctual response may be to withdraw or isolate ourselves. However, this often exacerbates the problem. Instead, when we seek agreement with the process that is occurring in our lives, we are able to see more of what is going right as
opposed to everything that we feel has gone wrong. It changes our perspective and brings us into closer alignment concerning the true meaning and purpose of our lives. By learning to agree, we are able to see that we are stronger than what we once believed we were.
2. Emotional Resilience
Challenging times can take a toll on our emotional well-being. Fear, anxiety, and stress can quickly overwhelm us and if not monitored closely enough, can become crippling. The
power of agreement offers emotional support by providing a safe space where we can express our feelings, share our experiences through prayer and/or an identified circle of trust, and receive empathy from others who understand what we're going through. This type of emotional validation is beyond comforting and healing.
3. Problem Solving
Facing challenges often requires creative problem-solving. Before you stop reading and decide to close out your browser (because this is the part where most of us struggle the most), understand the benefits of problem solving. Doing the work isn’t easy and it can truly show us who we are- the good, the bad and the ugly! When we understand the power that exists through agreement, we bring a diversity of perspectives and ideas to the table. This diversity can lead to innovative solutions that may not have been apparent when working in isolation. The power of agreement fosters a level of collective intelligence that can tackle even the most complex problems. So, don’t run when it’s time to do the work! And thank yourself later.
4. It Encourages
Challenging times can test our perseverance and motivation. It's easy to lose hope and feel like giving up. If you’re anything like me- human, and have ever gone through anything

you’ve definitely felt like giving up. The more we kick and fight any given situation just makes it more difficult to get past. I have found through my own personal experiences that it makes much more sense to just agree. I am still learning how not to carry around unnecessary suffering meant to disrupt my peace and harass me in such a way that I can find no happiness. By learning to agree we will in due time, begin to feel less “unstuck”.
5. Building Resilience
Ultimately, the power of agreement helps us to build resilience. Yes, you’ve got it! Go ahead and name yourself “The Comeback Kid!” Resilience is much needed in this life as we will face challenges and adversity during many unexpected moments in our life. These experiences become the building blocks of our personal and collective strength. Over time, we will see how well we can weather storms, adapt to change, and emerge from adversity with newfound wisdom and resilience.
Conclusion
Challenging times are a natural part of life, but they need not be faced alone. Pray, meditate, seek counseling or talk to someone that you trust. Remember, as you navigate the difficult moments that life throws your way, the power of agreement. Seek connection, collaboration, and common purpose by even deciding to share your testimony and experiences with others. In doing so, you will discover that you are not alone, and together, you can overcome even the toughest challenges that come your way.
